Meraki got me here

By Khairul Sharbini

A Greek word with no English translation but has a very beautiful meaning: Meraki. However, to roughly translate, it means to pour your soul into doing something you love and letting creativity overflow. As a Creative Artist, this word totally reflects what I am doing now and the rest of my life.

Let me introduce myself first: Hello, I’m Khairul Sharbini an aspiring creative artist.

Scrolling through my phone on Instagram, I suddenly stopped on a post by Play Naturally that was searching for participants. After reading, I started researching on what this project is about and immediately registered myself to be in it. From my understanding, this project resonates with the concept of Wabi-Sabi through Tasek Merimbun, where this play will take place.

I joined and was assigned as PN’s Graphic Designer, and the next thing I knew, I also became the Set Designer.

This is my first time doing stage design but they have put their trust in me so I should believe in myself. I love being with the rest of the participants, there is never a dull moment and we are always fueled with creative ideas, laughter, and passion for making this happen.

Stay tuned to see what we have in store and how I will pull off the stage design as a first timer.
